AWARDS JUDGE – Bruce A. Gomez

Bruce is entirely self-taught, works exclusively in pastels and has developed a unique style on French watercolour paper. His subjects range from urban scapes of Denver, New York, London and Rome and landscapes throughout the Southwest United States, including national parks from Grand Canyon, Montana, Olympic Peninsula, Canadian Rockies and out to Europe, especially Provence.

In the last decade he has turned his focus to competitive plein air painting having won Artist’s Choice, People’s Choice and Best of Show in Grand Canyon, Zion, Sedona among others – Snowmass, Grand Canyon, Sedona and Zion are on the schedule this year.

Bruce has taught workshops in Denver, Telluride, Moab, London and Italy and has been the featured judge in several national events. His works are in several international corporate collections. He has also published posters for MADD, Telluride Jazz Festival (twice), Telluride Wine Festival and Sedona Wine Festival among others.

This show features includes over 90 pieces from 54 Pastel Society of Colorado members. Awards were given in two categories: Associate Members and Signature/Master Signature Members, as well as a Terry Ludwig Award and an Award of Excellence from the Great Frame-Up. .
