Mark has been an active member of the Denver art community for many years. He is a founding member of EDGE Gallery and has taught drawing and painting at several local universities. His work is in many collections including Denver Art Museum, University of Colorado and numerous private and corporate collections.
Mark works in various drawing and painting mediums and says this about his work, “After many years of teaching, curating, and building artistic communities, I understand art as a conversation — not a monologue. My paintings are invitations. They ask viewers to project their own narratives, memories, and interpretations into ambiguous forms. Humor often sneaks in. So does vulnerability.
Ultimately, my work is about persistence — returning to the studio, embracing uncertainty, allowing mistakes to lead somewhere better. Each painting is a negotiation between intention and accident. I begin with an idea, but I stay for the surprise.”
He will demonstrate a large abstract pastel painting.
