Launching a Strong Painting with Diane Fechenbach
Saturday, June 27, 2026 · 9:00 AM–12:00 PM MT
11 AM ET | 10 AM CT | 9 AM MT | 8 AM PT
Successful paintings have a strong beginning. In this paint-along, Diane Fechenbach will talk about how to launch and then complete a painting with clarity and confidence.
Participants will work from a subject featuring a cliff face in deep shadow with brightly lit foreground trees. The focus will be on using earthy colors found in nature, rather than overly saturated colors, while building a strong foundation for dramatic light, shadow, and clean color.
This paint-along is suitable for mixed / all levels. A recording of the event will be provided to registrants following the session.
Artist Statement – Diane Fechenbach

Since childhood, Diane does not remember any time when she was not drawing or painting. She has always looked at the world as a series of paintings. Her passion is dramatic light and shadow and clean, saturated color.
Diane works in a number of media, including pastel, oil, and watercolor, both en plein air and in the studio. She enjoys teaching because it allows her to assist other artists in finding their “artistic voice” and discovering their passion. Her works are in juried exhibitions across the country, have received national and international awards and recognition, and are in corporate and private collections throughout North America.
