Change of plans and date! The October meeting of the Western Slope pastelists has been changed to Saturday, October 13...NOT October 20 as originally planned. Please make this change on your calendar! AND we have changed our monthly activity! October 13-14 is the weekend for art studio tours in the Grand Valley. Three of our pastelists...Penny Creasy, Barbara Churchley and Maggie Cook...will be participating. What an opportunity to see some fabulous art and to explore their creative art environments! It always fun to see "where" artists create and you may learn some ideas for your own studio!
Our group will meet at 10am on Saturday, October 13, at 10am in the Bray Education Center parking lot (640 Belford). We will carpool to visit art studios, enjoy a Dutch lunch and discussion together, then continue on our tours in the afternoon if that is convenient. Please let Arlene (435.630.1747) or Claudia (970.256.1312) know if you will be participating and if you are willing to drive. Please join us!

There will be several boxes of coffee from Starbucks type places, a donation jar set out to help defray the cost of coffee. There will be urn an of hot water as well as a variety teas.

We are asking members to bring a few breakfast pastries to share (this doesn't mean everyone must bring a goodie, if you have a favorite, bring it). PAAC artists are invited too again this year so we are expecting to have a good crowd!

A trail runs all the way around the lake, so bring a lighter kit or wheels if you want to explore farther afield from the overlook.

"The Bluff Lake area supports native short-grass prairie bluffs surrounding a 9-acre lake adjacent to a stream corridor. Time and geologic processes formed the bluffs long ago when streams flowed from the mountains towards the plains and deposited layers of soil. Prior to pioneer settlement of the area, Native Americans lived on the plains, hunting bison and deer on the bluffs. They depended upon the land for survival and the resources the Bluff Lake area provided sustained them for many years."
