Nancy Wylie is a realist painter working in both watercolor and pastels. Her passion for painting the world as she sees it comes from living in Colorado as a sixth generation native of Arvada. She loves how the blue skies and sunshine create deep values and colors giving her work depth and light. Nancy has loved art as long as she can remember. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Art Education with a minor in Outdoor Education, in 1977. During that time she studied art in Italy for half a year and studied the masters throughout her travels in Europe. She taught art in Jefferson County Schools for several years before staying at home to be a full time mom. Over time she began devoting her professional talents to painting full time. What motivates Nancy to paint is “ the beauty of God’s creation” and the desire to capture that beauty with paint, emphasizing light with the use of strong values. Subtle patterns of color and striking light and shadows move her to paint a variety of landscape scenes to beautiful florals. Nancy conveys a sense of reality and beauty that transports the viewer into a world that they can relate to. “I see such subtle beautiful things around me that I just want to capture them in the moment and preserve them forever on paper. I want to express to the world through my painting that God still speaks clearly through His creation,” says the artist. Nancy is represented by Horizon Fine Art Gallery, Jackson, Wyoming, Arts at Georgetown, Georgetown, Colorado, Main Street Gallery, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Gentry Gallery, Lakewood, Colorado. She is a member of numerous arts organization, including the American Academy of Women Artists, a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, and the Pastel Society of Colorado.
